Unable to See Active Directory group in SharePoint 2010


Always we need AD groups in SharePoint 2010 to grant permission to users. One month ago I faced a problem with this.

I was not able to see my AD group in SharePoint 2010 while I able to see it in Outlook!

After investigation I found the problem and the solution.

The solution is to convert the AD group from “Distribution” to “Security

Distribution group is created only for email applications to do contact lists and you can’t use these group type to assign permission to any objects , but security group is used to assign permissions to any object also you can use this type for email contact lists for that reason the distribution group is not appear in SharePoint

    While searching (Browse) Users based on Active directory, am unable to Search? pls can you help me to Browse users from AD while Grant user permissions pls?
